"By preventing the incineration of plastics, we're reducing carbon emissions significantly. For every tonne of virgin plastic, we're saving about three tonnes of CO2," he explains.
Tracking the Journey of Green Products
Kieran Kelly, founder of ubloquity, takes this sustainability effort a step further. His company uses technology to track the journey of recycled blades and other products, giving them a unique 'voice'.
"With a simple scan of a QR code or radio frequency technology, you can learn the entire story of a product - from its creation to its final form. It's a powerful way to connect with consumers and showcase the sustainability of these products," Kelly says.
The Future of Wind Energy
As we look to the future, the replacement of wind farms like Bellacorrick with more modern, efficient turbines is a step towards a greener energy landscape. With each new turbine capable of producing more power than entire farms of the past, we're seeing a shift towards fewer, larger turbines.
The expansion of the Oweninny wind farm, which will incorporate the Bellacorrick site, is a prime example of this evolution. The addition of 18 new turbines will increase the site's capacity to power up to 220,000 homes and businesses, a significant leap forward.
